CLARITY BEFORE COMMITMENT

PRE-FLIGHT
CHECKLIST

Get the facts on medical requirements, training timelines, and international standards before you reserve your seat in the flight deck.

What are the Medical Class 1 requirements?

Before commencing commercial training, you must pass a Class 1 Aviation Medical Examination. This ensures you meet the physical and visual standards required to safely operate commercial aircraft. This medical needs to be completed in SA with a SA CAA recognised aviation doctor..

How long does it typically take from zero to CPL?

For dedicated, full-time students training at FlyLFC, the journey from zero flight hours to graduating with a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Multi Engine Instrument Rating typically spans 12 to 14 months. This timeline is subject to weather conditions and individual progression through practical assessments.

Is my FlyLFC license recognized internationally?

Yes. Upon successful graduation, you will hold a South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) license, which is fully ICAO-compliant. This means your qualifications are recognized globally and can be converted for use in most international jurisdictions, subject to local regulatory proficiency checks.

Can I complete my commercial training on a part-time basis?

While we can accommodate flexible scheduling for the initial Private Pilot License (PPL) phases, commercial training demands rigorous consistency. We strongly encourage a full-time commitment for all CPL and Multi-Engine Instrument modules to ensure steady progression and optimal skill retention.

Do I need to pass a formal English proficiency test?

Yes. Clear and precise communication is critical in aviation. All candidates are required to pass an Aviation English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment, aiming for an ICAO Level 4 or higher prior to graduation, ensuring you meet the international standard for radio telephony.

Forging the next generation of elite airline captains with uncompromising safety and technical precision in South Africa.
